To say the least, d hall slacks on breakfast. D hall definitely doesn't view breakfast as "the most important meal of the day," like I do. The main problem is the eggs. The eggs come from a carton, and they taste like it. The hash browns consist of mostly oil and crisp, than actual potato. There's veggie bacon almost every day rather than actual bacon. And the coffee tastes like water. One morning, when I was rattled by the terrible spread, I noticed my buddy, D-Muscle, enjoying a beautiful, Mexican omelette. I realized what I'd been missing out on, and that I didn't have to deal with this garbage. He found the secret to avoiding the spread every morning. D-Muscle uses the stove, which provides all the necessary ingredients, to whip up this outrageous omelette.
Since that day, D-Muscle and I inaugurated Omelette Day, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We both have class until 11, and then we meet at d hall. D-Muscle uses about 8 egg whites, and 3 yokes, which makes one, huge omelette that takes up the whole, 2-person stove. I'll grab the salsa, onions, and ham, while he scrambles the eggs. And while he cooks the masterpiece, I'll take care of the toast. Just like that, we'll be eating that baby, while others are eating their powdered eggs. Omelette Day saves breakfast.
The stove saves a lot of meals; it's amazing! You can make quesadillas and delicious desserts (I love cooking apples or bananas with brown sugar and cinnamon). So many great creations. Good post!
ReplyDeleteYou've solved breakfast! And you're still only a freshman. HOORAY!
ReplyDeleteI don't know about d'hall food, but I'll take that omelette anyday--even egg white for my heart! Yay.
ReplyDeleteI have to see this mondo omelette. Sounds like a good system. I love making a nice breakfast sandwich for myself personally.

i totally agree that dhall is lacking in the breakfast department...and i thought i was the only one, because i can't eat life basically! omelettes are super tasty...and good for you! and contrary to popular belief, the yolks are good for you too (looots of choline) do you experiment with different fillings/etc.? hooray for edgy eggs! xD
